Cookie Policy
In short
- No advertising cookies. No tracking. No analytics. No social media pixels.
- We only store what the site needs to work: keeping you signed in and remembering your language.
- Our fonts and code are hosted on our own site, so opening CountUs does not tell Google or any ad network that you visited.
1. What cookies and similar storage are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Websites can also save small pieces of data in your browser's local storage or session storage. This policy covers all of these. It is issued by CEMRION, operator of CountUs Malta, and should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
2. What we store
| Name | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-[project]-auth-token | Local storage | Keeps you signed in securely after you confirm your email code | Until you log out or delete your account |
| countus.lang | Local storage | Remembers the language you chose | Until you clear your browser data |
| countus.draft | Session storage | Holds your email and nationality while you confirm your signup code | Until you close the tab |
| countus.pending | Session storage | Remembers the answer you tapped before signing up, so it counts once you join | Until you close the tab |
| countus.ref | Session storage | Remembers the invite code from a friend's link so they get their points | Until you close the tab |
All of these are strictly necessary for the service you asked for. Under the Maltese and EU ePrivacy rules they do not need a consent banner, but we list them here so you know exactly what is stored.
3. What we do not use
We do not use analytics tools, advertising or remarketing cookies, social media pixels, fingerprinting, or any third party tracking. Our hosting providers do not set cookies on CountUs.
4. Links to other sites
Updates link to the original news sources, and the share button opens WhatsApp. Those sites have their own cookie policies, which apply once you leave CountUs.
5. Your choices
You can delete stored data at any time through your browser settings. If you do, you will be signed out and your language choice will reset. Your account and answers are not affected.
6. Changes
If we ever want to add optional cookies, such as analytics, we will ask for your consent first with a clear banner, and you will be able to say no without losing access to anything.
